Planos (Plans) | Jesualdo Muvuma | Angola | 2D Computer, Pencil on paper, Rotoscope, Mixed Media

Stopped at a traffic light in Maianga, Luanda, a man drifts into his inner world to the sound of ‘Planos’.

His work has since been recognized globally, earning an Honorable Mention at the Athens International Monthly Art Film Festival, a Special Jury Prize at Cine Minhocão in Brazil and recently the “Best Short Film” award at Short Cutz Luanda.

Beyond cinema, Jesualdo’s creative reach spans across graphic design and fine arts. He designed the national kits for the Angolan National Football Team used in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations and was a winner in the National Bank of Angola’s contest for the 20th Anniversary of Peace commemorative coin.

Through his studio, Mwiloo, he continues to explore urban narratives using a signature “mixed-media” approach—painting over real photography—to bridge the gap between the rawness of reality and the boundlessness of imagination.
