Graphic Design Student Needed For Summer Position

The Ottawa International Animation Festival is seeking a bilingual student as the organization's Marketing and Design Assistant.
Priority is given to applicants who must travel at least 125 km from their permanent residence to work at the Festival.  You must meet the general eligibility requirements of the program.
The OlAF is one of the world's oldest and most recognized animation events, attracting over 27,000 attendees over five days every fall. The Festival hosts competition and curated screenings, fan and professional development talks. It attracts top filmmakers and vip guests from around the world.

This is an excellent opportunity for a bilingual Graphic Design or Animation student to take a key role in the administration and success of an arts festival, providing them with a foundation for relationships within the independent, cultural and professional animation sectors.  The student will assist with the program book layout, advertisements,and web design work.

Start Date: June 6, 2016
End Date: September 2, 2016

Skills Required:
> Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and French
> Great eye for layout and design
> Excellent communication and people skills
> Organized and able to consistently meet deadlines
> Proficient with design software; knowledge of Adobe Design Software required

OIAF Special Event Assistants -   We are currently seeking applicants!

This position is a work experience opportunity through the Job Creation program.  You must currently be in receipt of Employment Insurance (EI) payments or have received EI payments within the last 3 years (reach back status) and live in the Ottawa area.

Job SummaryJoin our team and get some great experience helping work on admin and event management for the Ottawa International Animation Festival.

Duration: 26 weeks

  
Skills and Abilities:
  •  Excellent communication and people skills
  • Other languages an asset.
  • Good organizational skills / able to work in a busy environment
  • Attention to detail and accuracy are a MUST
  • Strong computer skills - Microsoft Office, database and Internet programs
  • Experience working with Audio/visual equipment (DVD, video, BETA, projectors) is useful
  • Experience with the Adobe suite is useful

Eligibility Criteria:
You must currently be in receipt of Employment Insurance (EI) payments or have received EI payments within the last 3 years (Reach back status);
Live in the Ottawa area;
You must not leave employment to participate in JCP;
You must not be a current full-time student;
You must have your Employment Insurance status verified;
You may only participate in the JCP once in a 2 year period. (Applicants that do not clearly indicate their ability to meet these criteria in the cover letter will not be considered.)

Salary: You will be paid via the EI program (apr. $423) per week.
