Kids Jury
The Ottawa International Animation Festival is inviting local kids to enter its annual Kids Jury contest. Ten animation enthusiasts, ranging from the ages of 8 to 12 years old, will be chosen to judge this year's competition of short films or TV series made for young audiences.

To be chosen for the jury, local kids are invited to write one paragraph about their favourite animated film. Ten lucky winners and their families will be whisked away to the Festival on Saturday, September 24, 2016 to watch either the Animated Shorts for Young Audiences competition at 11 am or Series for Young Audiences competition at 1 pm. They will pick their favourite films or TV episode and award prizes on stage to the winning filmmakers later that evening, at 7 pm.

Contest deadline is 4:00 p.m. on Friday August 26, 2016 Entrants MUST include their name, age and an e-mail address or phone number where they can be reached.

This event offers Ottawa-area elementary school kids (ages 8-12) an inside look into the art of animation! There will be two sessions on Wednesday September 21st 2016 at 9:30am and 11:00am!  Book your class a spot today.

Ever wonder what happens behind the scenes of a major stop-motion production? Join Mark Shapiro from LAIKA, the Oregon-based animation studio. Mark will take us through the comprehensive handmade process that created their latest feature Kubo and the Two Strings as well as LAIKA's three Oscar-nominated features: Coraline (2009), ParaNorman (2012) and The Boxtrolls (2014). Building entire worlds by hand, piece by piece, learn how LAIKA creates life, in 24 frames per second.

Individual tickets will also be available online and 30 minutes before showtime for all other screenings.
