The exhibit centers around presentations of the animated music video created by Dave Cooper for Danko Jones, with a great selection of original design pencil sketches from the making of the piece and related pen & ink drawings and oil paintings of the main characters made especially for display at La Petite Mort. This exhibition also features artwork by the video’s award-winning director/animator, Nick Cross. Exhibit runs from Saturday, October 17 to Thursday, October 22.

The Three Tooners (Ian Jeans, Andrew King and Gord Coulthart) have a combined 80+ years in the animation world, from the 70s to the present. Stepping from animation to the commercial fine art world, their pieces comment on social structure, relationships, history, and day-to-day struggles of an ever changing world. In this exhibition they reproduce some of the seminal pieces from Then the old days of cartoon, and some of their new works showing where they have taken their influences into the now. Exhibit runs from Thursday, October 8 to Sunday, November 1.

Les trois animateurs (Ian Jeans, Andrew King et Gord Coulthart) comptent ensemble plus de 80 ans d’expérience dans le monde de l’animation, des années 1970 jusqu’à aujourd’hui. Passant du monde de l’animation à celui de l’art commercial, leurs oeuvres apportent un commentaire sur la structure sociale, les relations, l’histoire et les bagarres quotidiennes dans un monde en constante mutation. Dans cette exposition, ils reproduisent certaines des oeuvres qui ont fait école dans l’temps, c’est-à-dire la vieille époque des dessins animés, et certaines de leurs nouvelles oeuvres qui montrent où en sont leurs influences dans le maintenant. L’exposition sera tenue du jeudi 8 octobre au dimanche 1 novembre.

Imported all the way from Germany, this special exhibit was a huge hit during the 2009 Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film. Comprised of a collection of animation film stills printed on canvas, this is a unique opportunity to examine the artists’ work up close, and personal. Featuring stills from films by Phil Mulloy (Studio Film Builder), Andreas Hykade, Studio Soi, Anna Kalus and more. Special thanks to Tobias Wengert for making the work available to the OIAF. Exhibition runs from Wednesday, October 14 to Sunday, October 18.

Importée tout droit d’Allemagne, cette exposition spéciale a connu un succès fou au Festival du film d’animation de Stuttgart 2009. Constituée d’une collection de clichés de films d’animation imprimés sur toile, elle donne l’occasion unique d’examiner l’oeuvre d’un artiste de près.
