The Official Competition section of the Ottawa 08 International Animation Festival consists of works chosen by the Festival’s selection committee from a field of 2150 submissions.

The best new animation from around the world is presented in this screening, featuring En Agosto, a stunning film from Colombia by Andres Barrientos & Carlos Andres Reyes as well as a number of Canadian stand-outs such as People from The Dark Years 'Bates' by John Halpenny, and the Milk Dots Campaign from the innovative Head Gear Animation studio.
