Disney Animation's CG Character Animation: Past and Present

Mark Empey began his career at The Walt Disney Company in December of 1995. He came aboard as a Technical Director for the “Hydra” in Hercules. Since then he has lent his talents as Technical Director on several animated productions including Dinosaur, Magic Lamp and Mickey’s Philharmagic.

Empey is currently a CG Supervisor for Feature Animation’s upcoming CG film American Dog. He is responsible for overseeing the front-end departments and development for this project.

In Mark’s earlier years he worked as a Co-Filmmaker of an animated short film The Chicken Story. This short film won first place for Best Animation at the 1982 Chicago Film Festival. It also placed second for Best Student Film in the 1982 Canadian International Amateur Film Festival and won the Silver Award for Animation in the 1983 CBC Telefest.

Born in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, Mark is a huge fan of NHL’s Toronto Maple Leafs. If he didn’t work for Disney, Empey stated that his dream job would be to manage the team. Mark currently resides in Thousand Oaks, California with his wife and two children.
