Free! Teletoon Kids Workshop

Toon Apprentice Workshop for Teens

Sunday, September 25, 10:00 am - 1:00 pm (Canada & the World Pavilion)

The OIAF is getting area high school students involved in the world of animation. Teens can apply for a FREE Toon Apprentice pass valid for all screenings and activities at the National Arts Centre, including Career Day, on Saturday, September 24.

Teens can also their hands dirty in the FREE Toon Apprentice workshop at the Canada & World Pavilion on Sunday, September 25. Presented by the Trillium Foundation and the National Film Board of Canada, this workshop will introduce teens aged 13-18 to the paper cut-out technique of animation and give them a chance to create a visual narrative. First, learn about the basic principles of animation. You'll choose a social theme to illustrate (globalization, world peace, over-consumption, etc.). Then, you'll take part in a story development and storyboarding workshop, create your characters and sets, and shoot your film. Pre-registration required. The workshop runs 10:00 am – 1:00 pm, and again at 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm.

Career Day

Saturday, September 24, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm (NAC Southam Hall Amphitheatre Lobby)

This free event allows high school students and anyone interested in a career in animation to sit in on presentations by animation schools from across the country.
