Gary Baseman: Smudging the Boundaries
Friday, September 24th, 9:00 am - 10:30 am (Arts Court Theatre)
"When Bosch does that, it's art. When you do that, it's a flower sticking out of a man's ass ..."
Smudging the boundaries between art and commerce award-winning artist Gary Baseman
will lecture on how artists can manoeuvre into any medium, as long as they maintain the integrity
of the aesthetic and meaning of their art, whether film, television, print, gallery shows, advertising
and consumer products. Using examples from his solo painting exhibitions and his Television show,
Teacher's Pet, Baseman will also discuss the differences between working alone and collaborating
with a group, and the challenges of how to keep oneself inspired versus inspiring one's crew.
