Aside from showcasing the latest animated films from across the globe, one of the main goals of the Ottawa International Animation Festival is to continue to push the boundaries of animation, to involve other artistic mediums, hence the Words in Motion series.

OIAF has commissioned four authors to each write a 1500 word text dealing with a central theme (‘death & family', ‘sin', 'aging' and ‘transformation'). OIAF Artistic Director Chris Robinson will then program a series of animated films that best capture the essence of each of these texts. The Words in Motion series will not only showcase a wide array of animated films from the past and present but also introduce our audience to new, primarily Canadian writers.

Each writer will be in attendance to give a reading of their essay before the screening.
