ANIMATION ONTARIO at ANIMARKET

98 OTTAWA INTERNATIONAL ANIMATION FESTIVAL
SEPTEMBER 29 TO OCTOBER 4, 1998

The Ontario Film Development Corporationís Skills Development & Marketing Initiatives group is pleased to partner with the Ottawa International Animation Festival to host ANIMATION ONTARIO at Animarket 1998. Animarket is the trade show which runs during the Ottawa International Animation Festival at the National Arts Centre (held in rotation every other year with the Student Animation Festival of Ottawa). Participating companies will find this is an excellent vehicle for recruitment, on-site promotion and exposure to international animation buyers and programmers.

WHAT IS IT?
SDMI has taken a double-sized booth to host up to ten Ontario-based animation production companies at the Animarket. SDMI will prepare a catalogue for ANIMATION ONTARIO and will customize the booth with group and individual signage to create a professional and cohesive look to the booth. Animation companies may apply for this opportunity to reduce the cost of market presence while increasing profile and access to the international marketplace.

WHO CAN APPLY?
The initiative is open to Ontario animation production companies with production credits on at least two animation titles (series or specials) which have been broadcast or distributed. Companies should be currently developing commercially driven animation projects (at least two) which are appropriate for an international audience. SDMI will select up to ten Ontario animation companies to take space at the stand. This initiative is intended for small to medium sized companies who are not yet established in the international animation environment.

WHAT WILL I GET OUT OF THE EXPERIENCE?
Successful applicants will: Attend the Animarket under the auspices of ANIMATION ONTARIO at a substantial savings over the price of an individual booth rental; Receive coverage of completed projects, projects in development and contact information in the ANIMATION ONTARIO catalogue; Have their company name and logo displayed at the stand, in the ANIMATION ONTARIO and OIAF catalogues, at the OIAF web site and on other promotional material where possible; Receive on-site support from OFDC personnel and a local coordinator

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?
Companies will be expected to pay $1,500 for their participation with ANIMATION ONTARIO. All travel, individual promotional materials, etc. will be the responsibility of the participants. Each animation company will enter into an agreement with the OFDC and will be asked to complete two questionnaires following the event. Participating animation company representatives may be required to attend a follow-up meeting to share their experiences with other companies at a later date.

WHEN IS THE DEADLINE?
Applications must be received by Thurs, July 9/98. Decisions will be announced by Thurs, July 16/98.
