The Ontario Film Development Corporationís Skills Development
& Marketing Initiatives group is pleased to partner with the Ottawa
International Animation Festival to host ANIMATION ONTARIO at Animarket
1998. Animarket is the trade show which runs during the Ottawa International
Animation Festival at the National Arts Centre (held in rotation every
other year with the Student Animation Festival of Ottawa). Participating
companies will find this is an excellent vehicle for recruitment, on-site
promotion and exposure to international animation buyers and programmers.
WHAT IS IT?
SDMI has taken a double-sized booth to host up to ten Ontario-based
animation production companies at the Animarket. SDMI will prepare a
catalogue for ANIMATION ONTARIO and will customize the booth with group
and individual signage to create a professional and cohesive look to
the booth. Animation companies may apply for this opportunity to reduce
the cost of market presence while increasing profile and access to the
WHO CAN APPLY?
The initiative is open to Ontario animation production companies with
production credits on at least two animation titles (series or specials)
which have been broadcast or distributed. Companies should be currently
developing commercially driven animation projects (at least two) which
are appropriate for an international audience. SDMI will select up to
ten Ontario animation companies to take space at the stand. This initiative
is intended for small to medium sized companies who are not yet established
in the international animation environment.
WHAT WILL I GET OUT OF THE EXPERIENCE?
Successful applicants will: Attend the Animarket under the auspices
of ANIMATION ONTARIO at a substantial savings over the price of an individual
booth rental; Receive coverage of completed projects, projects in development
and contact information in the ANIMATION ONTARIO catalogue; Have their
company name and logo displayed at the stand, in the ANIMATION ONTARIO
and OIAF catalogues, at the OIAF web site and on other promotional material
where possible; Receive on-site support from OFDC personnel and a local
HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?
Companies will be expected to pay $1,500 for their participation with
ANIMATION ONTARIO. All travel, individual promotional materials, etc.
will be the responsibility of the participants. Each animation company
will enter into an agreement with the OFDC and will be asked to complete
two questionnaires following the event. Participating animation company
representatives may be required to attend a follow-up meeting to share
their experiences with other companies at a later date.
WHEN IS THE DEADLINE?
Applications must be received by Thurs, July 9/98. Decisions will be
announced by Thurs, July 16/98.
